<p>Advanced Cardiac Life Support

DESCRIPTION: ACLS is an advanced, instructor-led classroom course that highlights the importance of team dynamics and communications, systems of care and immediate post-cardiac-arrest care. It also covers airway management and related pharmacology. In this course, skills are taught in large, group sessions and small, group learning and testing stations where case-based scenarios are presented. Areas covered in the course include:
. Key changes in advanced cardiovascular life support, reflecting the 2015 American Heart Association Guidelines for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care.
. Basic life support skills, including effective chest compressions, use of a bag-mask device and use of an (AED)
. Recognition and early management of respiratory and cardiac arrest
. Recognition and early management of peri-arrest conditions such as symptomatic bradycardia
. Airway management
. Related pharmacology
. Management of acute coronary syndromes (ACS) and stroke
. Effective communications as a member and leader of a resuscitation team
. Effective resuscitation Team Dynamics</p>

<p>This is a TW0 (2) day course. Attendance is required for the entire day, both days. Class begins promptly at 9:00AM. Late arrivals will be denied entry.
Students who successfully complete the ACLS Course, including the following components, will receive an ACLS Provider Course Completion Card, valid for two (2) years:
. Actively participate in, practice and complete all learning stations
. Complete the closed-book written exam with a minimum score of 84%
. Pass the BLS With AED and bag-mask ventilation skills test
. Pass a Megacode (practical test) as a team leader, providing appropriate medical treatment and demonstrating effective team dynamics.
TEXT BOOK: Advanced Cardiac Life Support Provider Manual, by the American Heart Association, 2015 edition. Text book will be sent to registrants who register at least 10 (ten) days before course; registrants who register less than 10 (ten) days before the course must pick up a text book a the Life Support training Center, 2511 Fire Road, Suite A-7, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234; (609)641-5856.
Textbook and other materials are included in the cost of the course.</p>

<p><b>Prerequisite:</b></p>
<p>You must possess a <u>current (unexpired) </u>American Heart Association CPR card. CPR cards issued by other organizations are NOT acceptable. If your card is expired your registration will be declined.
Prior to taking the course, you must go to the American Heart Association student website WWW.heart.org/eccstudent, password code: "acls15". This will bring you to the course pre-test. You must take the pre-test and print out your test results. You must bring this to class with your CPR card to be admitted to the class.

<p>ARMC employees - Please borrow a book from your department. If your department does not library books, call Life Support Training Center at (609) 641-5856. Atlanticare affiliates who receive discounted registration fees will receive full refund less an administration fee of $15.00 for basic courses (BLS, HS) and $30.00 for advanced courses (ACLS, PALS, PHTLS, and AMLS).

<BR><b><p><i>Cancellation Policy</i></p>
Non-ARMC employees- Please call Life Support Training Center at (609) 641-5856 to make arrangements for your book. Non- Atlanticare participants who are not able to reschedule to another course are refunded their registration fee less an administration fee of $25.00 for basic courses (BLS and HS) and $50.00 for advanced courses (ACLS, PALS, PHTLS and AMLS).

If you are unable to attend a class in which you have enrolled, please call the Access Center at 1(888)569-1000 with least 7days advance notice. No refunds will be issued for classes that are not properly cancelled.

As an AtlantiCare employee it is up to you to know the AHA CPR Certification required for your job. The specific certification required for your job is listed on your role description. Please check your role description and know that information prior to calling the Access Center to schedule a live class or prior to submitting your online request form so you can be sure you are enrolling in the correct certification course.

<BR><b><p><i>No Show No Refund.</i></p>
ARMC employees who fail to show for a class in which they are enrolled will be charged the class fee upon their 2nd enrollment. Registered ARMC employees who call in sick should have his or her supervisor email joanne.ferebee@atlanticare.org. *Note if you have any physical limitations or special needs contact us in advance of the class so that accommodations can be made.

If you do not receive your card within 30 days of your course, please contact the training center to obtain a duplicate card. However, we cannot honor requests for free replacement cards past the 30 days. The replacement fee for lost cards is $15.00. <BR>
